Fun Machine find the question, ‘What sort of music do you play?’ as difficult to answer as the question ‘What sort of person are you?’ At the moment, they suggest ‘soulpopalumniumfoil’, but others have suggested ‘intellectual pop’, ‘rock that borrows’, and ‘I don’t care if you’re my son, I’m not giving you a good quote for your myspace’.
Talented instrumentalists, they set up with guitar, bass, drums, and when the time is right will throw in anything from a piano to djembe to trombone to gong
Formed in 2008, Fun Machine contains three young cheeksters who moved to Canberra for uni but couldn’t find the beach. For them, Fun Machine was a thinly-veiled excuse to yell quasi-enlightened things at people, experiment with the wardrobes of their mothers and brothers, and get free bottled water from pubs.
For others though, Fun Machine has become that excuse to escape the dullness that infects nightlife and get sweaty by burning through their best shoes, learning that there need be nothing furtive about a smile.
Fun Machine were on of the Sound Search winners for 2010, and we are excited to have them back on the Tiki Terrace for Foreshore 2011.
