Boy & Bear are known for their warmth and stirring presence on stage and recently left overseas audiences swooning. Following a stint at large theatre venues with friend Laura Marling in April 2010, the band returned in December 2010 to sell out their own headline shows in Oxford, Brighton, Bristol and London.
But it’s the welcome arms of the Australian audience that keeps this group full of fervor. The success of the Blood To Gold national tour last October was truly humbling for the band. It sold out across the nation forcing the band to add second and third shows where possible to keep up with the demand.
Last year’s release of Boy & Bear’s debut EP “With Emperor Antarctica" brought the band to the forefront of the music scene. The confident and richly rewarding body of work was Australia’s second highest selling physical EP in last year’s ARIA charts. They grabbed numerous accolades, not only taking out last year’s triple j’s Unearthed J Award, but also receiving a Rolling Stone Award for Artist to Watch.
Rolling Stone editor Dan Lander sings their praises, “There’s a sense of menace – danger almost – in their music: driving, urgent rhythms, snaking melodies and harmonies that are smoke, not sugar. On stage, in full flight, they’re breathtaking, somehow haunting and euphoric at the same time”.
Boy and Bears highly awaited debut album 'Moonfire' will be released on August 5th.
